Real Estate Investing, the Basics

Here are the realities; buying the house you live in, is not investing, buying a house to FLIP it is not investing, buying a house and acquiring equity when you buy it is investing and the only way to invest, everything else is speculating.  Just the same as buying stocks and bonds is not investing, it is simply speculating, hoping that the market will go up and hoping that you are going to make money when you sell it.  If you have already done your own education as you should, you would already know this.  If you do not know this, then you need to read some books or listen to the rid podcasts or simply ask people questions who know what they are doing.   Here are a few books to get you started if you Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, The Millionaire Real Estate Investor by Gary Keller / Dave Jenks / Jay Papasan, and the one you need to read regardless is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Dr. Stephen Covey.
